The Bright Futures Federation has one governing body that works across both St Giles CE Primary School and St Peter's CE Primary School.

What is a Governing Body?

Governors work in partnership with school leaders to ensure the federation provides the best possible education for all its pupils.

The Executive Headteacher, supported by the Heads of School, oversees the day‑to‑day running of both schools, while the governing body focuses on strategic leadership.

As Church of England primary schools, our governing body includes representatives from the church, parents, staff and the local authority. Governors usually serve a four‑year term.

What does a Governing Body do?

Guided by the Department for Education, the governing body acts as a critical friend, providing both support and challenge to both schools.

The main core functions of the governing body are:

Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
Holding leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and it's pupils, and the performance management of staff
Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

Working with the Executive Headteacher, Heads of School and staff across the federation, governors also hold responsbailities with regards to:

Safeguarding
Curriculum oversight
Health & Safety
SEND and inclusion
Stakeholder engagement

The full governing body meets every half term. Serving as a governor is a rewarding role that contributes directly to the continued academic, creative and personal development of our pupils.
